Chic A Dee Cafe was opened in 1978 by James & Phyllis Knight in the Eastboro Shopping Center. In 1985 Jim & Phyllis purchased the old Pizza hut building on SE 6th Street and moved the restaurant to that location.

The Chic A Dee Cafe is the place to go to in Topeka for a home-cooked meal that will please your palate and satisfy your hunger. Owners Ken and Linda McDonald apply their more than twenty years in food service to provide the tastiest chicken fried steaks, whole catfish, fried chicken, grilled or breaded pork chops, a different soup each day, homemade pies, and a variety of other menu items- all at reasonable prices and served by a courteous and efficient staff.

With a seating capacity of 75 and a friendly down home atmosphere, the Chic A Dee is a favorite place to dine for many regulars and the Saturday morning breakfast attracts a number of race car drivers and fans who like to review and predict all of the happenings at the local tracks. The Chic A Dee is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily except for Sunday when breakfast only is served from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. The cafe is closed on holidays
